Exercise is Medicine®*
(EIM) is a national initiative that encourages colleges and universities to promote physical activity as a key component of overall health. At TU Campus Recreation, we are committed to making movement a part of everyday life on campus.
Our goals with EIM:
- Embed physical activity into the daily campus culture.
- Assess physical activity as a vital sign during student health visits.
- Provide students with resources to develop lifelong healthy habits.
- Connect campus health care providers with fitness professionals for exercise referrals and prescriptions.
Physical Activity Guidelines:
All healthy adults (ages 18–65) should aim for:
- At least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity, 5 days per week, or at least 20 minutes of vigorous-intensity activity, 3 days per week.
Benefits of Regular Physical Activity:
- Improved Focus: Exercise boosts brain function and concentration
- Elevated Mood & Lower Stress: Movement helps manage stress and supports emotional well-being
- Increased Energy: Regular physical activity fights fatigue and promotes alertness
- Sharper Memory: Physical activity supports cognitive health and memory retention

Group Fitness Events - Fall 2025
Cycle and Smoothies
- September 2 – 5:30 - 7:00pm
- Capacity: 25
- Take a break from the stresses of college life and come cycle for 45 minutes followed by FREE smoothies with your friends!
Stand Up Paddleboard Yoga
- September 13, October 8, November 12 all from 7:00 - 8:00pm
- Capacity: 11
- Take your yoga practice to the water with SUPYO, a unique 60-minute class that combines the tranquility of yoga with the challenge of stand-up paddleboarding. As you flow through yoga poses on a paddleboard, you'll work on lengthening your muscles while enjoying the soothing effects of being surrounded by water.
Run Club
- September 16 starting at 5:30pm
- Capacity: 100
- Kick off with a dynamic turf warm-up led by a personal trainer, run a scenic 1-mile loop around campus, then cool down with core work and stretching. Enjoy cold plunges, foam rolling, and recovery tips from Campus Rec Athletic Trainers, plus hydration and fueling info from TU Hospitality.
Well-being Retreat
- Thursday, October 16 - Sunday, October 19
- Location: Cherry Springs State Park, Pennsylvania
- Join us for a Fall Break retreat designed specifically for female-identifying Ãå±±½ûµØ University students to build community and explore personal well-being. Set in a peaceful International Dark Sky area, this glamping-style getaway offers a mix of light outdoor activities, yoga and Pilates, crafts, and reflective sessions focused on improving mental, emotional, and physical wellness. Connect with others, recharge in nature, and return with new strategies to support your well-being throughout the semester. Twilight Yoga

- Take your yoga practice outdoors underneath the colors of sunset into the moonlit Glen Woods.
Yoga Nidra and Sound Bath
- November 3 – 7:00 - 8:30pm
- Capacity: 30
- Unwind with a deeply restorative experience combining guided meditation and healing sound. This class promotes deep relaxation, stress relief, and inner calm.
Equipment Orientation
If you're new to the Campus Rec fitness floors and want to know which equipment will help you achieve your fitness goals, our Fitness Floor Attendants are ready to assist. Look for the Fitness Floor Attendant staff in grey and ask for an equipment orientation, or you can email the Assistant Director of Fitness Davon Long at davonlong AT_TOWSON to setup an appointment. Choose from cardio machines, weight machines, or a combination of both orientations. Do you need to know which pieces can accommodate a specific accessibility need? We are here to assist with those needs as well. In addition, if you need a spotter, equipment assistance, area directions, the Fitness Floor Attendant are happy to step in.
