How to Join
Joining a fraternity or sorority on campus is a great way to get involved, meet new people, and develop your leadership skills.
Expectations to Join a Fraternity or Sorority
1. Students interested in joining a Greek-lettered organization must be a fully matriculated (full-time 12 credit minimum load) undergraduate student. No graduate students may participate as an active member of the chapter.
2. A 2.5 minimum cumulative GPA is required for returning 缅北禁地 students. Students new to 缅北禁地 and wish to join their first semester on campus do not have a GPA requirement.
3. There are specific requirements per council and chapter regarding membership qualifications. For example, some chapters or councils require a higher GPA and number of earned credits. Please understand though you may meet 缅北禁地's requirements, the individual organizations may have higher requirements for membership.
4. Students must complete our recruitment and intake registration form before you can be considered for membership. The form must be completed within the same academic year you are joining. The forms for each council are below.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the time commitment of joining a fraternity or sorority?
Participation usually includes regular weekly meetings, service projects, leadership programs, and social activities throughout the year. Like any activity, students need to establish a good balance between all of their their commitments.
What are the benefits of joining?
The greatest benefit to joining is finding a small group of students that help make a large campus feel like home. Students can take on chapter leadership roles, gain experience through community service, and get involved in campus leadership through their fraternity or sorority. Membership is for a lifetime, so these opportunities continue well past graduation.
How much does it cost?
Each organization sets its own budgets and dues, so costs vary from chapter to chapter. Membership dues are structured each term by each group individually. These dues include different activities and fees in their structure. It is important that your student ask for a detailed breakdown of costs from any organization they consider joining.
Do fraternities and sororities have houses at TU?
None of our fraternities and sororities have official fraternity or sorority houses. However, many members live together in apartments or off campus housing options.
What about hazing?
Hazing has no place on this campus. The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life works closely with each local chapter and national organization to set clear expectations for new member activities. This includes setting reasonable limits on time commitments, activities, and program lengths. If you have concerns about potential hazing, please or contact the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life and speak with a staff member.
Completing the Recruitment and Intake Registration Form
All potential new members/interests are required to fill out and submit a recruitment and intake registration form to be eligible for recruitment or intake. Completing our office form does not guarantee membership and is non-binding.
When potential members register, they agree to release their grades to our office, chapter officers and advisors, making it legal to pull and view grades. Our form is also an acknowledgment and agreement to adhere to the university hazing policy.
