Even though it鈥檚 not a voting year for many, there are still plenty of opportunities to make your voice heard and create meaningful change right here in the TU community. The Office of Civic Engagement and Social Responsibility (CESR) makes it easy to turn your passion into action. From engaging with local community groups, participating in civic learning programs and developing your social change leadership skills, CESR offers a wide range of ways to connect, contribute and grow.

Here are some impactful ways to get involved at TU through CESR鈥攁nd why it matters.

Community Connectors Fellowship

This program provides an opportunity for students to make meaningful contributions to TU and surrounding communities. Students can get involved in two ways:

  • Paid student leaders will participate in a year-long training to guide peers through multiple community visits. Fill out an application (applications due Sept. 1) to become a peer leader.
  • Students who participate are led by student leaders through community engagement opportunities with local organizations. This is great for student groups or individuals looking for one time or ongoing experiences! Opportunities will be posted on the CESR website.

Civic Renewal Fellowship

This yearlong program trains a cohort of students in communication, community building and advocacy to position them to effectively facilitate community conversations and enact change around important issues. This is a paid position.

Social Action Collaboratory Fellowship

Students in this yearlong program learn about place-based approaches to social change, explore social justice issues, and develop peer leadership skills. Fellows co-facilitate workshops, coordinate community visits and lead reflective conversations. This is a paid opportunity.

Workshops

TU students, staff and faculty members can request workshops for student organizations, departments and classes. Through the workshops, students can learn more about pathways for civic action, foundations for community engagement, voter education and skills for integrating civic and community engagement into everyday life. Community Engagement Projects

Check out the CESR website to learn about partner organizations for additional opportunities to participate in community engagement. Projects range from hourly to short-term.
