Admission Criteria
- no GRE scores required
- a baccalaureate degree in a related area — biology, chemistry, geology or environmental science from a regionally accredited college or university
- minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.00 (on a 4-point scale) required for full admission to the program, 2.75 required for conditional admission; GPA calculations may be based upon the cumulative units or the last 60 units of the degree (see graduate admission policies for more information)
- students without undergraduate degree in related area are required to complete the
following courses, in consultation with the graduate program director, with a minimum
GPA of 2.75:
- two terms of introductory biology with laboratory
- two terms of introductory chemistry with laboratory
- one term of statistics OR one term of calculus

Thesis track: Most thesis track students are supported with assistantships from the program and/or external grants. However, the number of assistantships is limited. To receive assistantship support, thesis track applicants must have contacted and received support from a science-focused faculty member who is interested in serving as a thesis advisor.

Thesis Track
- Letters of Recommendation: Two letters of recommendation from instructors or supervisors familiar with your record, aptitude and potential for graduate work. At least one of letter should be from a faculty member. (Email addresses of recommenders must be entered on application.)
- Statement of Purpose: A one-page statement explaining your research goals and interests, and how pursuing a master’s thesis in Environmental Science at Ãå±±½ûµØ University can help achieve those goals. Please include your related curricular, work, and/or research experiences as well as your future career and/or educational plans.
- Resume or Curriculum Vitae: Please include the names and contact information, including email addresses, for three
individuals who can serve as references (two of whom you also will ask for letters
of recommendation as above). At least one or two of the individuals should be faculty
members who are able to evaluate your academic potential and provide information on
your academic and/or research history.
Non-thesis track
- Letter of Recommendation: One letter of recommendation from an instructor or supervisor familiar with your record, aptitude and potential for graduate work. (Email address of recommender must be entered on application.)
- Statement of Purpose: A one-page statement explaining why you plan to pursue a graduate degree in Environmental Science, your related curricular and/or research experiences, and your future career and/or educational plans.

At least one or two of the individuals should be faculty members who are able to evaluate your academic potential and provide information on your academic and/or research history.
Additional Requirements for International Applicants
U.S. Immigration requires F1 and J1 students to be enrolled full-time with the majority of their classes taken in-person and on campus.
