Staff bios

Sharyn Grove
Director of Operations
Sharyn provides administrative oversight, developing the annual operational budget and supporting monthly financial meetings. Sharyn organizes new program development including planning efforts to launch new courses; leads instructor recruitment and retention efforts; and manages vendor relationships. Sharyn is involved with student recruitment and planning to determine programs to address regional workforce needs.

Trudinique (Trudy) Munroe
Student Success and Program Manager
Trudy supports students from course registration through course completion and beyond to ensure student and program success. Trudy previously worked as a career consultant with Baltimore County Department of Economic and Workforce Development for over 10 years. She provided career guidance to unemployed or underemployed individuals and assisted with resume writing, interviewing practice, career mapping, developing training plans, and connected them with local resources if needed to help meet their employment goals.

Chunta Olaseha
Senior Relationship Manager and Career Consultant
Chunta works to grow and build relationships within the workforce and corporate sectors to increase enrollment in self-paced and instructor-led courses. She offers employment development opportunities tailored to meet the needs of our region.

Adrienne Blackstone
Course taught: Medical Coding Course
Adrienne Blackstone is a dedicated, insightful, and results-driven healthcare professional with 20+ years of experience in healthcare administration and revenue cycle management. She is skilled in problem-solving, practice management, compliance, medical coding education, and developing and implementing medical billing processes in both private practices and academic practices.

Susan Gochoco, CPC, CCVTC, CCP, CEMC, CPC-I
Courses taught: Medical Coding Course, Medical Billing Course
Susan Gochoco has worked in healthcare for over 30 years. She first earned a core coding credential and went on to earn several specialty credentials, including the certified professional biller certification most recently. In 2003, Susan began teaching coding and billing and has worked as an adjunct instructor at 缅北禁地 University for over seven years. She enjoys teaching and is happy to share her extensive knowledge of healthcare with others. Susan is currently employed as a senior coder in the University of Maryland Medical System Department of Surgery.

Maria Green, DBA, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, CEBS
Course taught: Human Resources Certification Prep Course
Maria Green has over 20 years of HR experience in healthcare, higher education, hospitality, and human services. She is currently director of human resources at Melwood, where she manages HR administration including employee relations, benefits, compliance, and HRIS.

Helen Jarboe, MHA, BSN
Course taught: Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Program
Helen Jarboe is a clinical educator and has practiced nursing for over 40 years in critical care, including intensive, emergency room, and post-anesthesia care. She has been certified in critical care and was a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) instructor. She is now an adjunct nursing faculty member at 缅北禁地 University, instructing the newest members of the nursing profession and enjoying it immensely.

Shannon Kennedy-Rios
Course taught: Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Program
Shannon Kennedy-Rios has worked in the medical field as a medical assistant since she was 19 years old. She obtained her medical assistant certification in 2015 from the Allen School of Health Sciences in New York City. She also obtained a bachelor鈥檚 degree in healthcare administration with a concentration in patient safety and quality from Southern New Hampshire University in 2020. She has extensive knowledge in pediatrics, OBGYN, and primary care. She most recently worked at Johns Hopkins Community Physicians as a registered medical assistant. In her free time, she spends her time with her child and husband.

Susan King, Ph.D.
Courses taught: Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Program, Certified EKG Technician Course
Susan King is a registered nurse with a background in leadership, critical care, and emergency nursing. She currently serves in the role of faculty and simulation coordinator for the 缅北禁地 University Department of Nursing. She earned a B.S. in nursing from Bowie State University. She also obtained a M.S. in nursing, an MBA in healthcare administration, and a PhD in 2017. King is certified through the National League of Nursing as a Certified Nurse Educator, as well as a Certified Clinical Nurse Educator demonstrating standards of excellence in knowledge of nursing education through the National League of Nursing. King earned certification from the society for simulation in healthcare as a certified simulation healthcare educator in 2023. Dr. King鈥檚 lifelong passion of nutrition and fitness is supported by a certification as a personal trainer, group fitness professional, and nutrition counselor in sports nutrition and nutrition for weight management. She is certified in Barre Connect by the National Exercise Trainers Association. She has earned a certification in an aquatic fitness from Aquatic Alliance International and group spin certification from Kaiser Cycling Association. She enjoys the outdoors and time with her family.

Corella Lumpkins CPC, CPCO, CDEO, CPB, CPMA, CRC, CPPM, CPC-I, CEMC, CCS, CCS-P, CHC
Course taught: Medical Billing
Corella Lumpkins has 36+ years of extensive experience working in every area of the healthcare revenue cycle, on both the provider and payer side. She is the manager of coding, compliance, and provider education at Loudoun Medical Group P.C. and has been an approved AAPC instructor since 2008. Corella is a published author, national speaker, serves as an officer/committee chair on the AAPC National Advisory Board. Previously, Corella held leadership positions at LifeBridge Health, Medstar Health, and the University of Maryland Medical System.

James E. Mitchell, Jr
Courses taught: CompTIA A+, Network+ & Security+ course
James E. Mitchell, Jr, passionate about providing support and mentorship for students, brings over a decade of experience in computer repair, network security, and help desk support and more than 20 years of experience in cyber security. He previously led telecommunications teams at Comcast and Verizon and was a subject matter expert for BCCC鈥檚 cyber security program. He currently operates testing centers offering PearsonVue, ETS, Kryterion, Certi-Port, and Scantron exams. In addition to a degree in electronics and computer technology, he actively holds certifications in CompTia A+, Network+, Security+, CCNA and CEH.

Gina Pomilla, MBA, SHRM-SCP, GPHR
Course taught: Human Resources Certification Prep Course
Gina Pomilla is an HR leader specializing in global benefits and total rewards at the corporate level and is dedicated to leading change management initiatives and maximizing organizational efficiency. She currently serves as associate vice president of human resources and Title IX coordinator at University of St. Thomas Houston.

Jennifer Powell
Course taught: Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Program
Jennifer Powell has worked as a certified medical assistant since 1990, when she graduated from Medix. In 1995, she obtained an associate degree in allied health from Dundalk Community College. She has worked in many specialties during her career, including OBGYN, cardiology, oncology, hematology, urology, family, and internal medicine. She has extensive knowledge in phlebotomy and working in the lab. She currently works for Johns Hopkins Community Physicians. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, and sewing.

Tushar Rathod, MBA, PMP, CSM, SAFe SPC

Tushar Rathod is an experienced project manager and instructor skilled in adult learning styles. He brings the complex language and concepts of project management to meet students where they are.

Willie Sanders, Jr
Courses taught: CIS+ Programming
Willie Sanders, Jr is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Computer and Information Science at 缅北禁地 University and a former technology instructor for Baltimore City Public Schools. Willie teaches CIS+ programs and is a support instructor for TU Continuing and Professional Studies CompTIA A+, Network+, and Security+ certification prep courses.

Stephen Yozviak, AABA, RMA
Course taught: Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Program
Stephen Yozviak is a Navy veteran with over 45 years of experience as a medical assistant and educator. Since 2018, Stephen has worked as a medical assistant educator for MedStar Medical Group, where he鈥檚 responsible for training and certifying over 1,000 medical assistants. He also teaches a monthly Medical Assistant Professional Development Class for all MedStar Health associates and has developed a curriculum for MedStar Health鈥檚 Clinical Associate program, which trains anyone with no previous experience to become valuable medical assistants within MedStar Health. Previously, Stephen was a medical assistant educator at Fortis, where he served as program chair for the Medical Assistant Department for four years. He was also the primary phlebotomy instructor, designing, developing, and integrating a program to certify medical assistants in phlebotomy. Stephen holds an associate degree in business administration from American Intercontinental University and several certifications.
